Farm Fresh Eggs
At this time, eggs are sold out most days. We accept pre-registrations and those are accomodated first. The remaining eggs are first come first serve and a few dozen MAY be available toward the end of the week. We have NEW layers due to start laying in Aug/Sept so we should have more available then. Please call/email before coming out to check on any availability. Eggs are $4/dozen. Our eggs are NOT sorted by size so what the chickens lay that day is evenly distributed into cartons. Questions? Here at Sunshine Meadows, we let our chickens roam free choosing what and when to eat. No battery cages here! Our pasture is free of herbicides, pesticides and any other "cide" cause our birds don't like them and neither do we. So, plenty of bugs and weed seeds and wild raspberries, too. Oh, and let's not forget when they sneek into the organically grown garden and feast on lettuces, kale, beet greens and whatever they find before we find them! When we can get it organic, locally grown grain is offered. Otherwise we offer a no meat by-product, antibiotic and hormone free ration. During the cold months, when the ground is frozen the girls don't forage but they do like to roam around outside, exploring. Fresh water is always available and comfy nesting boxes to lay their eggs are in their coop, which they spend the night in to protect them from predators.
Eggs, $4.00/doz, are available year round. As we move into Fall/Winter, production decreases because of the shorter days so it's best to call first at 248-464-1825 or email lorij@sunshinemeadowsfarm.com to check for availability, especially if you are making a special trip. During the Fall/Winter months, large quantities of eggs will NOT be available. We are just east of Cook's Farm Dairy in Ortonville.
